Wooden Watches for Women might be My New Thing

I have a thing for watches. That “thing” is that I acquire too many of them. Isn’t that what we all do when we find something we love? I like to think that I don’t actually have too many, but I suppose that is all relative. In my world, I have exactly enough. Rephrase. I had exactly enough… until I found Jord wooden watches for women. Call me a sucker, but I can’t help but love the vintage, yet modern, appeal of the Cassia wood watch series. Wood watches might just be my new thing.

Actually, the truth is that JORD (pronounced “Yode”) kind of found me. They aren’t exactly a new company. JORD has been around since 2013. I see advertisements on Instagram from time to time so the unusual name and timepiece weren’t entirely unfamiliar and the unique wood watch design is hard to forget once you see it. Anyway, a few weeks ago, the Missouri-based company contacted me to ask if I’d like my own JORD watch to review and offer a $100 giveaway to my readers. Um, duh! Of course, I said yes. After all, I have yet to do a giveaway on my blog or Instagram and ya’ll deserve definitely deserve a reward. Plus, after finally looking through more of their watches, I knew I was going to need to have one.

In collaboration with JORD, I received the Cassia Walnut & Vintage Rose watch at no cost. All content is my own and reflects my personal and honest opinion.

The Cassia Series – Vintage-Style Wooden Watches for Modern Women

Marie Kondo and the minimalistic lifestyle is all the rage right now and, while I’m on 100% board with dumping things from my life which fail to spark joy, this watch isn’t going anywhere. In fact, this carefully crafted, wooden timepiece is a daily reminder that, often, less is more. It embodies a minimalist and modern yet vintage design and it’s exactly that which draws me to this unique watch. The Cassia Walnut and Vintage Rose is a perfect marriage of elements void of fancy extras that, in this case, would only distract from its simple elegance.

Stemming from my love of blush-colored things, I chose Walnut and Vintage Rose. The walnut and rose-colored metal mingle beautifully together to create the band and seamlessly transition into the 40mm case. The dial features Roman Numeral inside the bezel-free case producing a classic and vintage feel versatile enough for any occasion. The JORD Cassia Series of ladies wooden watches comes available in four total combinations. Besides Walnut & Vintage Rose, you can choose from Ebony & Sable, Olive & Aegean Blue, and Zebrawood and Ivory.

The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time.

Why I Chose to Review the JORD Watch and What does It Have to do with travel?

I don’t review many things. If you take a look at the review section of my website, you’ll find very few articles. As a blogger, I am bombarded with emails on a daily basis asking me to try out new products. Maybe I’m missing out but I reject almost every one of those offers. Not because they might not actually be really great products, but because it’s important to me that it somehow fits into the content of this website. It’s important to me that they are products that I would actually use and appreciate. Now is about the time you’re probably wondering, “So, Jenna, what do JORD wooden watches for women have to do with travel?” Well, I happen to think that watches have everything to do with travel and I don’t travel without one. As for wood watches; well, they’re just cool. I also like how lightweight they are.

Because Wearing a Watch When You Travel is Important

Before smartphones ruled our daily lives, watches were a pretty significant part of travel. Flights, train schedules, bus stops, dinner reservations, and whatever else dependent on the hour, a watch helped get you there on time. Watches were a necessity for travel then and I firmly believe that, even now in the age of technology, they are equally essential.

Our phone’s do everything for us – tell time, take pictures, connect us to the world through social media. However, it’s important not to fully depend on your phone. Just ask my friend who recently missed her train in Europe because her iPhone clock didn’t auto-update when she traveled over a time-zone. A mechanical quartz watch won’t do that either but at least you know that and don’t expect it.

Smartphones are amazing tools, but that doesn’t mean a backup way to tell time isn’t an incredibly wise idea. The thing about smartphones is that, in order to fulfill their purpose, they depend on you too. There’s no better way to learn how useless technology can be until you forget to pack your portable battery charger on a long travel day. Dead phones don’t tell time.

The Jord Apple Watch Band

Maybe you already have an Apple Watch. Me too! I especially enjoy wearing my Apple Watch on days that I’ll be active and use it as a tracker. I also like to look for new bands and have my eye on a few that are now available on the JORD website. I’m going to have a hard time choosing between leather and wood!
