Pink Shell Beach Resort: Beachfront Bliss in Ft. Myers, Florida
Florida is synonymous with beach and the beach just so happens to make a fabulous vacation. Whether you are heading out for a few days of quality couple time or needing to entertain the whole family, the beach is a perfect escape. No matter what your age, they are few pleasures in life more enjoyable than sand between your toes and the sound of ocean waves hitting the shore. That’s why I’m thrilled to bring you this article today, written in partnership with Pink Shell Beach Resort, about Ft. Myers, Florida.
In case you’re wondering, “Where in the world is Ft. Myers, Florida?”, think South. You’ll find Ft. Myers, and its beach, on a little island called Estero Island that is tucked beautifully between Sanibel and Naples, Florida. The Pink Shell Beach Resort sits on the far north of the Island facing the Gulf. A handy little tip if you do decide to make this your next beach vacation is to book directly with the hotel. In doing so, you are guaranteed a beach view room and private lanais to admire those incredible south Florida Sunsets.
Why Take the Family
Why not take the family?! Besides a sugary, white beach there are tons of activities for the whole fam. If you like a little action, sign up with the resort for one of the many water recreation activities available. Personally, I would opt for a wave-runner dolphin tour but there are also sunset dolphin cruises, kayak tours and bike paddling available too. If you’re feeling adventurous, ditch the beach chair and rent a bicycle to explore the island and its many trails.
Between the beach, beach-side games and three heated pools including the lagoon-style Octopool, there’ll be no issue keeping the kids entertained. There’s even a splash pad for the littles who might not be ready to take “the plunge” just yet. Children can also participate in kayak tours, bike paddling, and other activities as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
If they’re interested in a dose of “out of water” activities, you can even sign the kiddos up for an arts and crafts class. There are also treasure hunts, evening pool-side movies, ice cream sundaes and beachside campfires complete with smores for the kids to enjoy. Meanwhile, parents can lounge by the pool or sip a cocktail over at Bongos.
Pink Shell Beach Resort has both one bedroom and two bedroom condos available. Frankly, not as many hotels offer two-bedroom as you might think so this availability earns Pink Shell some brownie points from our family. Though it might not be important to everyone, having a two bedroom condo is a deal-maker or breaker for us. It’s one thing if we are just spending a night somewhere but on vacation, we really like the kids to have their own room. Who am I kidding? WE really like to have OUR own room. I love my kids dearly but, after a long day, it’s nice to relax in your own space and our children agree!
Speaking of relaxation, that starts the minute you arrive. The portico staff will take your bags and park your car. Valet (as well as self-parking) is included with your reservation. Also included is breakfast for two guests per day.
Whichever condo you choose for your family, it will be your home away from home during your stay. All condos are equipped with a full kitchen giving you the option to enjoy a meal in. Of course, if cooking isn’t on your vacation agenda, you can head out to one of the resort’s restaurants. The condos are also equipped with their own washer and dryer and while that might not sound exciting, it’s actually an amenity I personally appreciate. There’s nothing worse than getting home and facing piles of vacation laundry. I much prefer to cycle the laundry through on last day before packing up.
Why Pink Shell Beach Resort?
Every room at Pink Shell is a suite giving your family some space to spread out while still being together. Have a large family? The two-bedroom units can sleep up to eight people. Regardless of which option you choose, one or two-bedroom, you’ll have a full kitchen and a nice living area. A full kitchen is especially handy on longer vacations with the kids. If yours are anything like mine, they are ALWAYS hungry! Stock up with a few essentials and some snacks and you’ll be good to go.
An absolute must when choosing a location for a family vacation is that there is something for everybody. Pink Shell Beach Resort has really covered the bases to make this the perfect location for both parents and kids. From the super-cool Octopool complete with shells and waterfalls to more adventurous activities like kayak tours and wave-runner dolphin tours to fitness geared activities like beach-side yoga and bike trails, there’s a little something for everyone.
There’s also plenty to do if you decide you’d like to venture off the resort for a day out. For history buffs, you can visit the Edison or Ford Winter Estates. Nature lovers can head over to Lovers Key State Park or JN Darling National Wildlife Refuge to hike and spot wildlife. Bowditch Point Park is also a great day to spend a day in the great outdoors. Hello Gopher Tortoises! Combine your love of nature and the ocean with a visit to Ostego Bay Marine Center or Manatee Park or if you’re a baseball fan and there in March, head over to town and catch the Red Sox and Twins at spring training.
Pink Shell Beach Resort offers some great dining options to keep you fueled along the way. Most notably is Jack’s Farm to Table beachfront restaurant. I love this restaurant because their ingredients are locally sourced and that not just the seafood. Everything is fresh, meals change with the season and your dining experience supports local farmers. I’m a believer in sustainable travel and responsible tourism. This restaurant is the first of its kind on Ft. Myers beach and has earned itself a place in the food world as the Diner’s Choice Award on Open Table. It also took home the Best Dessert and People’s Choice awards at the 21st annual Taste of the Beach. Jack’s Farm to Table is a place you can enjoy and know you’re doing your part to create a positive impact and increase sustainability in the community.
In addition to Jack’s Farm to Table, you can enjoy breakfast at Jack’s. Here they serve made to order omelets, waffles and much more with a hearty buffet spread. Another fun option is Bongo’s. Bongo’s is a poolside grill serving up tasty sandwiches, fresh seafood, and tropical cocktails to cool you down.
If you’re looking for something romantic, reserve a time to dine on the beach.
So there you have it. Pink Shell Beach Resort makes choosing Ft. Myers for your next family vacation a no-brainer! What activities and amenities do you look for when choosing a family destination? Have you been to Ft. Myers or will you be heading there soon?
