What Makes Colorado Springs So Special
Anybody who knows me knows that I LOVE Colorado! I genuinely believe you can find the best of both worlds whether you’re drawn to the city or to the outdoors. There are TONS of activities if you enjoy nature and if you need a dose of the city life, just head to Denver just 70 miles north!
From breathtaking mountains to beautiful weather year-round, Colorado Springs continues to be a favorite city for tourists and locals alike. In fact, Colorado is one of the fastest growing states in the U.S.! Droves of people move to Colorado Springs annually for work, school, or retirement. Personally, I don’t blame them! Maybe someday I’ll end up there myself… who knows! Whatever the reason one might head to the mountains, most can agree that Colorado Spring is a wonderful place to live. Here are just a few things that make this town so special.
The Weather Is Amazing
While Colorado Springs does see some brutal winters, the weather is typically very pleasant. Summer temperatures are generally in the 80-degree range, and the spring and fall months are typically around the 50s and 60s. Being high desert, evenings can be chilly, so locals usually opt for a lightweight jacket or hoodie after dark. During the daytime, Colorado Springs is typically sunny and mild, and the city rarely sees rain, making it the perfect place to live for folks who enjoy pleasant, balmy weather.
The Housing Market Is Affordable
Colorado Springs real estate is extremely affordable compared to other nearby cities, which is another reason so many people choose to move there. The city is only about an hour drive from Denver. This is a huge draw for people who work in Denver but don’t want to pay a higher cost of living. This gives residents a taste of both city and suburban life and is also popular among families for this reason. Colorado Springs is one of the few U.S. cities to offer this “two-for-one” lifestyle, giving it a unique edge that other cities just don’t have.
The Scenery Is Incredible
Colorado Springs is surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Most notably, you can find Pikes Peak here, which is the highest point of the southern Front Range of the mountains. Locals are known for frequently hiking Pikes Peak. It’s actually one of the most visited summits in the United States! Pikes Peak offers top-notch views of Colorado Springs and the surrounding mountains. Pictures simply can’t do it justice, so the only way to truly take in the scenery is by visiting. The Garden of the Gods is another popular hiking spot, and visitors can marvel at the incredible red rock formations and panoramic view of the city.
Dining with a View
Colorado Springs has no shortage of restaurants, and the city offers a wide array of options. You can find anything from Italian cuisine to Mexican dishes or even vegan options! Many Colorado Springs restaurants offer amazing views of the mountains, so patrons can dine against a mountainous backdrop. What could be better than eating delicious food while also looking at some beautiful scenery?
